Guilin

Guilin is China's most famous natural beauty spot. I first saw Guilin in the late 90’s. There were a few foreign tourists then but Guilin and Yangshuo were very rustic towns. Though they have now been developed to handle waves of domestic Chinese tourists, little nuggets of beauty and glimpses of real life can be found at almost every turn away from the crowd. Of course, the main draw, the dramatic karst landscape is still breathtaking and ever-present. So, here’s a look at what can be found off the very, very well-trodden path.
